Abstract:
Established in 2016, TaniHub Group is an Indonesian agritech startup that acts as a holding company for TaniHub (e-commerce platform), TaniFund (peer-to-peer lending platform), and TaniSupply (supply chain management). With its vision, ‘Agriculture for Everyone,’ TaniHub Group was built as an integrated solution to disrupt Indonesia’s conventional agricultural supply chain, which consists of multiple layers of intermediaries in between the farmers and buyers, which creates market price inefficiencies. TaniHub Group simplifies the value chain by sourcing goods directly from the farmers and distributing them to diversified segments of buyers, including the food processing industry, modern retail, HORECA (hotel, restaurant, and catering), SME (small-medium enterprises) and individual buyers. Through this measure, TaniHub Group aims to create fair trade in which farmers will obtain fair prices. TaniHub Group also provides farmers with access to funding through our peer-to-peer lending platform TaniFund, which conducts on-farm monitoring and guidance to improve the quality of the crops.
By introducing this approach into Indonesia’s agriculture sector, TaniHub Group creates a social impact in which smallholder farmers can enjoy better harvest yields and higher income. Our newest example of technological innovation is the Packing and Processing Center (PPC) in Malang, East Java, where they operate sorting machines with less human touch but with similar, if not better, accuracy. This social impact effort is to drive sustainable agriculture and improve the livelihoods of farmers, both of which are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in Climate Action, Responsible Consumption and Production, No Poverty, Decent Work, and Economic Growth as well as Good Health and Well-Being.
TaniHub Group continues strengthening our commitment despite significant challenges coming from the Covid-19 pandemic by assessing various risks and opportunities as well as planning several measures to minimize negative impacts that can affect every part of the company’s operations. Routine health checks, disinfection, less contact between couriers and consumers are just a few among various efforts we take to ensure the continuity and sustainability of our business.
